Alex Song has revealed that he turned down offers from sides competing in this seasons Champions League to complete his loan move to West Ham.
The Cameroonian star joined the Hammers from Barcelona for the current campaign shortly before the transfer deadline passed in what was seen as a surprise switch by some.
Song had been linked with the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United for much of 2014, after dropping down the pecking order at the Camp Nou.

Having only left the Emirates Stadium a couple of years ago to complete a big move to Barca, the 27-year-old says that the opportunity to return to England with West Ham was so good that he opted against offers from teams in action in the Champions League:
“Some people are asking when I did not go to a club playing in the Champions League, but the priority for me was to come back to England,” he is quoted by the London Evening Standard.
“I have played in the Champions League for nine years and that was not important. I have many years to play in the Champions League.
“I wanted to play in the Premier League. I started playing here when I was 17 years old and it is one f the best leagues in the world. When I had the opportunity to come back and I spoke to the manager, I jumped at the chance. I liked the way he spoke to me and what he had to say.
“I was very happy with the project at the club. They have big plans for the future, with the move to the new stadium coming soon, and I wanted to take the challenge.”
Song made his Hammers debut last night in the 2-2 draw with Hull City.
