Olivier Giroud and Los Angeles FC have agreed to a mutual termination of his contract, beginning June 30.
The 38-year-old signed for the MLS side in summer 2024 and scored five goals across all competitions. In their last 16 regular-season matches, he has only started five of them.
“Olivier has been an exemplary professional during his time at LAFC,” said LAFC Co-President & General Manager John Thorrington. “He brought humility and a winning mentality that helped elevate everyone around him. Olivier has been a tremendous ambassador for the club on and off the field. We are grateful for his contributions and wish him, his wife Jennifer, and his family all the very best in this next chapter.”

Giroud helped LAFC claim their first U.S. Open Cup title in 2024, scoring in the championship game to help them to their first trophy in the competition.
“I want to thank all of the fans, my teammates, and the staff at LAFC for making this an enjoyable stop in my career,” Giroud said. “I am happy to have played a part in the success of LAFC. From winning a trophy last season to participating in the Club World Cup, this has been a great experience in L.A. for me and my family.”
Giroud's career has seen him play in Italy, France, and England with stops at Montpellier, Arsenal, Chelsea, and AC Milan. The Frenchman has won 11 major trophies and scored nearly 300 goals while making more than 700 club appearances.
He has been linked with a move back to France, with Ligue 1 side Lille reportedly interested in his services. He has reportedly agreed to a one-year deal with the club.
Giroud's departure opens up a Designated Player (DP) slot for LAFC. They now have two open this summer.
