After spending the season with the former Manchester United player, France international Rabiot has waxed lyrical about the forward. The Marseille midfielder added that if the 23-year-old hadn't had "all of his problems", he would have an "image" like Madrid's Bellingham – as he is an "exceptional" player.

He told The Athletic: "Mason is an incredible player. If he hadn’t had all of his problems, I think he’d have an image like (Jude) Bellingham. Mason would be the star. Because he’s an exceptional player. He can score with his right foot and his left foot, he has an exceptional shot, he can dribble. We’re very lucky to have him. When he’s really focused, he does really great things."
THE BIGGER PICTURE
The "problems" Rabiot refers to centre on Greenwood initially being charged with attempted rape, assault, and controlling and coercive behaviour – before they were all discontinued. The ex-United man is now rebuilding his career at Marseille, and so far he is doing a good job of it, scoring 21 goals and adding six assists in 34 Ligue 1 appearances.

Greenwood, who helped guide Marseille to a second-place finish in Ligue 1 and with it Champions League qualification, is currently enjoying his summer break before reuniting with Rabiot ahead of the 2025/26 season later this summer.
