The January transfer window is rapidly approaching and it will be interesting to see what moves Jose Mourinho will make once it’s officially open.
Just recently, however, Tottenham Hotspur were once again linked with Manchester United’s Nemanja Matic, and Bleacher Report state that the Serbian is a real January target for the London team.

Of course, upon seeing this update on the 31-year-old midfielder, many of the fans were having none of it. They were quick to slam Matic and urge the club not to sign him at all.
Some of them seem to think he’s simply not good enough and that he would be a waste of money in every sense.
But even though he is already 31, there are certainly some positives that Spurs can derive from this potential transfer in January. Matic’s contract is expiring in the summer of 2020, which means that they are likely to get him on the cheap. The report from Bleacher Report claims United are pushing for £15m but are likely to accept a lower offer in order to offload him.

The combative midfielder brings a lot of experience and know-how to a relatively young midfield which Mourinho has at his disposal. The Serbian has already won the Premier League three times during his stay with Chelsea and the Special One could definitely use some proven winners in his squad.
But considering that Mourinho indeed does like to have at least one defensive midfielder in his squad, seeing how his prefered formation is 4-2-3-1, as one fan has also pointed out, adding someone of Matic’s calibre could be a good idea for the squad.
